Testimonials

Since my time with MMF&HP I have learned and experienced so much about my health and the importance of good nutrition. I had not a clue about when to eat and what to eat - in fact, I was not surprised to see how off the mark I was! Over a 16 week period I lost 13kg and with that my fitness improved, as well as my cholesterol. A huge thank you to Shelly, and her team, who really helped me in making some significant changes in my life.

Thank you for helping me Shelly - I am always so motivated to train with you and your encouragement makes anything and everything seem possible. My goals are within reach and I can't wait to continue training with you over the coming years.

This months views in women's health:

Stress is a common contributor to the rising scourge of non-communicable disease (heart attack, stroke) as a common risk factor that predisposes many women to over over-eat. Stress can alter an individuals overall food intake resulting in overeating, which may be influenced by the level and severity of the stress in their life. For example, chronic life stress seems to be associated with a greater preference for energy dense foods and mostly those high in sugar and fat (Torres and Nowson, 2002, p. 887). In this case, the evidence suggests that constant or recurring life stress, and thus stress-induced eating, may be causally linked to weight gain, and a major factor contributing also to the development of obesity. MMF&HP offer programs that seek to encourage the benefits to proper nutrition and physical activity aside from just weight loss. A healthy diet and regular physical activity are two very important ways in which women can work to manage stress in their lives.
